Chicken Fried Steak & Creamy Mash Potatoes
Hey Y'all,
Hope everyone is having a wonderful week. I recently had a craving for Chicken Fried Steak and since I have never made it before I was kind of scared too. But after realizing that there weren't too many ingredients and how easy it was, I did it. For the Chicken Fried Steak all you need is 3 lbs Cubed Steak (round steak that is tenderized), 1 cup flour, 2 tbsp. Cracked Black Pepper, 3 tbsp. Slap ya Mama seasoning, 2 Eggs, .5 cup Whole Milk, Salt, Pepper, and Vegetable Oil. First get out a heavy bottom skillet such as a Cast Iron Skillet and fill it about 1 inch with the vegetable oil, cook on medium heat. In a bowl mix together eggs and milk, set aside. In another bowl mix together flour, cracked black pepper, and slap ya mama seasoning, set aside. Take the meat out of the package. The first coat on the steak is the flour mixture and make sure you coat it evenly. Then dip into the egg wash and shake off excess wash. Then re-dip into the flour mixture and shake off excess. Repeat this process till all steaks are done. When the oil is heated drop some flour in the oil and if it cooks you are ready. Place about 2-3 steaks in the oil and cook for 2-4 minutes on each side. Once you have cooked all the steaks place them on a plate with a paper towel on it to drain the grease off the Chicken Fried Steak.
Creamy Mash Potatoes are really easy and yet so good. All you need is 3 lbs. Russet Potatoes, 1.5 sticks Butter, 8 oz. Cream Cheese, Milk, Salt & Pepper. First peel and chop the potatoes, place them in a pot of water and cook until tender; a fork should be able to cut the potato when they are done. Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Take 1 stick of Butter and mash together with the potatoes. When blended add the Cream Cheese and mash together. Then add about 3/4 cup Milk and mash together. Keep adding Milk until it is at the consistency you like. Season with Salt & Pepper. Preheat your oven to 350. Place the Potatoes in a baking dish and top with the remaining butter. Cover with foil and bake for 20 minutes.
This meal was one of the best meals that I have ever made!!! It was so easy and simple to make. The Chicken Fried Steak was seasoned so well and was very tender. The crust on the steak was very flaky and crunchy. With the Gravy on top of the steak you had the same seasoning going though out the steak and gravy. The Gravy was very creamy and such a nice addition to the steak. The potatoes were absolutly amazing. They were very creamy and rich. The best part is when you drag the steak through the potatoes, the flavor is so good. This is also a dish that only take 1 hour from start to finish and can easily be done during the week. Hope this encourages you to go home and cook this wonderful meal for you and your family. Next time I will be showing you the most amazing Pot Roast. Stay tuned and have a wonderful week.

The Gravy for the Chicken Fried Steak is so easy. All you need is .25 cup leftover grease, Rest of the Season Flour, Milk, Salt & Pepper. In the pan with a whisk mix together the flour and grease. This is going to create a roux for the base of our gravy. Slowly start adding the milk and keep whisking together. Add as much milk until your Gravy is at the thickness that you like. Let it come to a low boil and then remove from heat. If needed season with Salt & Pepper. Serve over Chicken Fried Steak and Creamy Mash Potatoes.
