Baked Ziti

Hey Y'all,

I hope that everyone has had a wonderful past 2 months.  It has been absolutely crazy around our house.  My grandmother moved to Houston, back to working both jobs and still trying to find full time work.  None to say the least it has been busy and exhausting.  We had a great Halloween and the house was decorated very cute.  Now that the holidays are upon us again we will be doing lots of cooking and lots of blogging.  My goal is to do a blog post every other day in the next two months to keep you updated with great new recipes.  This one I made back a few weeks ago and it turned out perfect.  You can make this really with any pasta you have on hand that is a shell.
For the ingredients you will need 2 jars Newman's Own Marinara Sauce, 1 chop Onion, 5 chop Garlic cloves, 1 sprig fresh Rosemary chop, 10 chop Basil leaves, 1 can Mushrooms, 1 tbsp. Olive Oil, 2 lbs. Italian Sausage, 1/2 cup Merlot Wine, 1 (12 to 16 oz.) Bag of Ziti, 4 cups Shredded Mozzarella Cheese, Salt and Pepper.
First thing is heat a skillet on medium heat.  Add the olive oil to the skillet.  Once heated add the sausage to the pan and cook till done.  Remove sausage from the pan and drain on a paper lined plate.  Add the onion to the pan and saute still on medium heat for about 5 to 7 minutes till soft and translucent.  Add the garlic to onion and saute for 2 more minutes.  Add the sausage back to the skillet with the onions and garlic.  Add the rosemary, basil and wine and cook on medium low heat for about 5 minutes.  Drain the mushrooms and add them to the sausage mixture.  Add the jars of sauce to the sausage.  Stir on low heat and cook for about 30 to 45 minutes.  Season with salt and pepper if desired.  While the sauce is cooking, cook the pasta according to the directions on the package.  Once pasta and sauce are done turn off the heat and let them cool.   Get out a deep baking dish and turn on the oven to 350.  Place the pasta in the baking dish and spoon in the sauce 1 ladle at a time.  Stir to combine sauce and pasta.  Once pasta and sauce are combined place mozzarella cheese on top and cover the entire top with cheese.  Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes.  Remove the foil and cook for another 5 to 10 minutes till cheese browns on top for you family's desire.  Serve and Enjoy!!!!!!

This dish so sweet, tangy and so delicious!!!!!!  You get the sweet from the onion, garlic and the marinara sauce.  The sausage has a little bit of heat but nothing that is too spicy.  The pasta is cooked to al dente which is perfect.  It has the right amount of cheese on top.  The mushrooms have a great textural element that is needed in this dish to break up the texture of the sauce and pasta.  I hope that your family enjoys this dish as much as mine did on a cold autumn night.  Next time I am going to bring y'all my mom's famous Strawberry Cake that my dad absolutely loves!!!!!!  Have a wonderful weekend and see y'all next time.
